Bucharest - in Winter - Cold

On December 5th, I arrived in Bucharest, bleary eyed and hopeful. You see,
I followed my heart and a girl to Romania in this frozen dark month, because
sometimes you can't just wonder... The city and I had days together, and I
wandered.. through the Parisian and Communist architecture. Through air
that could only be +2C or -2C, like other temperatures required too much
effort. These Balkans are a land in gold rush, 50 years waiting, where rents
double in consecutive years, and skyscrapers mince through avenues of gilded domes.
The churches are small, rich with mosaics and green-faced John the Baptist.
On my last day, I listened to children sing carols in the museum of the Romanian
Peasant. Beautiful, at times.
