Snaps from Morocco
Essaouira: crusty timeless salty beauty
(all Morocco)
We arrived at Essaouira fed up with Morocco. The endless hassle, the disingenuous vendors,
the human roadblocks to induce guide service. Essaouira, despite being a tourist trap in
its own right, is still a real fishing town, and so stunningly beautiful. Sea breeze,
waves that crash, and fisherman plying their luck against the Atlantic.
The old city Medina, built by the Spanish during
their occupation of the "Spanish Sahara" is a knot of tangled streets,
graced by doors repainted dozens of times.. blue and green portals of such varied
size that Alice surely pulled the handle on one of them..
Welcome to the dirty, ragged Venice of Africa..
