Snaps from Colombia
Santa Marta
Santa Marta, a 450 year-old port on the Carribean coast, sits right
at the foot of the Sierra Tayrona. I arrived here first, drinking beer
next to the gentle bays of nearby Taganga, and using it for a homebase
for visits to Baranquilla, Cartegena, and finally a jumping off point for
the strangeness of La Guajira. Here, I had the best steak since Argentina,
had dance partners at night, and gigantic fruit juices every morning.
But most of all, I took pictures of Carnival warming up.
