As a bridge between China's sometimes ultramodern coast and the backwater
interior, Shanghai was Mark's and my embarcation point for the trip to Kathmandu.
Though the easiest of transitions, with a borrowed corporate apartment and English
speakers everywhere, China anywhere is no longer Kansas. We wandered through
the old city, the new city, and Shanghai's lovely parks for 4 days..
